For me Tom Strong continues into a maelstrom. The daughter, Daluha(?), becomes the central focus of the better scripts, and Tom's fate becomes known at the end of the Promethea series. I'm not sure exactly where it becomes unfocused, but perhaps Moore went a little long on this one, and decided that the daughter was more interesting later..not neccesarily a bad thing.

While this comic has it's inspirational center on the adventure schtick, it's the only Star Wars comic I can say I read with enthusiasm. Gulacy's art makes it incredibly easy to move along and ignore the lesser aspects of the writing. Good fun stuff.

These days Marvel has a twice a month schedule for all their books at least 3(4?) times a year, to increase revenue and publish more books. As a result, there are really no "regular" artists on a book, and Daredevil has been fortunate so far with the Rivera/Martin/etc team of graphic narrators with a similar sense of linework and panel design. The colorists are excellent as well, adding an extra layer of cake to the proceedings.

Yes, the book from issue to issue, has it's difficulties in plot and pacing. Sore spots to be sure, but not a killer for the book surprisingly. Waid continues a writing style with roots in the difficulties of his Irredeemable comic. Lots of little tid bits of info, but little resolution. He actually succeeds in making most of the DD run so far enjoyable on an issue to issue basis. The Klaw storyline is a misstep in emphasis, and never really resonates. The next one with the Luchadore for a villain is much more successful.

Hmmm. .following on your comment about Moore not writing Batman. I may be wrong, but all he ever did was fill ins other than Swampy, which was probably scheduled for cancellation anyway. It sure seems he was able to run with whatever he did here, which wouldn't of been the course had he written Bats. I would like to imagine Moore opting for creative freedom on his own creations after his retake on the Charlton heroes, and I can't imagine DC saying no....
